A 16-year-old male suspect was caught on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in Inabaga as he broke a bottle over the head of a motorcycle-riding man in a fight which reportedly erupted out of jealousy.

According to SPO1 Jose Nioda, Inabanga police investigator, victim Oliver Melecio, 19, of Clarin, was spotted with a 17-year-old female in the CCTV footage as he was clobbered by the suspect on Thursday.

The female, reportedly the girlfriend of the suspect, told Nioda that she asked Melecio to driver her to her boyfriend.

However, as Melecio and the woman arrived near the junction in Inabanga, the suspect who was with a 15-year-old male companion saw both of them.

This triggered the suspect to dash towards Melecio and hit him.

As seen in the CCTV footage, the suspect and his companion also drove away with Melecio’s motorcycle after beating him up.

Melecio who was severely cut above his left eye then immediately reported the incident to police authorities who were able to arrest the suspect a day after the incident.

The victim’s motorcycle was also recovered by police.

As the suspect and his companion were minors, both of them were placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

They will be paying for the victim’s treatment and will undergo community service. (Allen Doydora)
