The Association of Southeast Asian Nations-National Organizing Committee (ASEAN-NOC) commended multi-agency Task Group Bohol for its successful implementation of security measures during the four ASEAN meetings held in the province this year.

According to Office of the Civil Defense 7 assistant regional director Engr. Ver Balaba, ASEAN-NOC gave the task group a “100 percent excellent rating” for the zero untoward incidents in relation to the four ASEAN conferences conducted throughout the year.

Task Group Bohol was given recognition during the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council full council meeting led by Governor Edgar Chatto at the People’s Mansion in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday.

The team comprised of various government agencies including the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard and Bureau of Fire Protection was last deployed from November 26 until November 30 to secure the 25th ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) annual meeting.

Over 10,000 security forces from the PNP and AFP and 21 other government agencies were deployed throughout the year to provide security for various ASEAN senior officials and ministers during all of the 10-nation bloc’s conferences in Bohol. (rt)
