Several years after his debilitating attempt to take his own life, a 24-year-old man on Tuesday hanged himself from the ceiling of his home in Antequera leading to his death.

According to Antequera police chief SPO4 Antonio Agocoy, Roland Masibay of Barangay Tupas in said town was found lifeless by his neighbor as he was hanging from the neck with a nylon rope.

The neighbor, identified as Hipolito Tongco, immediately reported the incident to police at 10:30 a.m.

Dr. Daisy Dabalos, after checking Masibay’s body at around 11 a.m., declared him dead noting that there were no indications of foul play behind his death.

According to Agocoy, Masibay was alone in his house before he hanged himself.

The police chief also bared that Masibay had already attempted to take his own life by drinking muriatic acid when he was still based in Mindanao several years ago.

Masibay survived the suicide attempt but the corrosive acid caused permanent damages to his body, said Agocoy.

The victim reportedly could no longer properly swallow food and was mostly only eating scrambled eggs.

Authorities believe that Masibay’s condition which resulted from his initial suicide attempt drove him to take his own life.

Masibay also left a suicide note, but authorities only divulged that the victim asked to be buried at a hill in Barangay Bicahan in Antequera and for his body not to be embalmed. (Allen Doydora)
