Land Transportation Office branches in Bohol are expected to start printing plastic driver’s licenses with five-year validity starting January next year, said a local LTO official.
According to LTO Tagbilaran information officer Florencio Balazuela, their office recently received around 20,000 plastic cards which will be printed on and used as licenses.
Dermalog machines which were previously distributed to all LTO offices in the province are set to be used in processing the licenses come January, Balazuela said.
Personnel at LTO branches in Tagbilaran, Jagna, Talibon and the Driver’s License Renewal Office inside the Island City Mall have undergone training in operating Dermalog’s system, he added.
According to Balazuela, they will immediately use the machines after the LTO’s regional office issues a go-signal for the operation.
Currently, on old machine is being used to print driver’s licenses with a three-year validity.
However, Balazuela pointed out that the LTO has issued a few licenses valid for five years since November last year. (rt)
