A 40-year-old man was shot dead by a still unidentified suspect outside a disco in Barangay Kagawasan in Sagbayan at 2 a .m. on Tuesday, police said.
According to Sagbayan police investigator PO3 Anthony Vistal, victim Lito Baba of Inabanga was standing amidst a coconut plantation and watching fiesta revelries when he was gunned down.
Baba sustained gunshot wounds in his head and back leading to his immediate death, Vistal said.
Meanwhile, police are still facing a blank wall as to the identity of the gunman.
According to Vistal, there were no witnesses during the shooting incident as Baba was situated in a dark area during the attack.
Even Baba’s family was staggered by the incident as the victim had no known enemies or ongoing rifts, said Vistal.
Baba had no prior records with the Inabanga and Ubay police stations and was not known to be involved in illegal drug activities.
However, a relative of Baba who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the victim frequently asked his family not to tell anyone if he was home.
“Ayaw mo’g saba ug nay mangita nako,” Baba reportedly said. (Allen Doydora)
