A man previously held for a drug charge was again arrested by authorities during a drug buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City on Thursday afternoon.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as George Torralba Maniwang, 52, of Barangay Booy in Tagbilaran City.
Maniwang is included in the PDEA’s watch list of drug personalities, authorities said.
In a report, the PDEA indicated that Maniwang was spotted by agents as he was selling illegal drugs near his home.
This prompted authorities to set up the operation against Maniwang and deploy an undercover agent to carry out a staged drug transaction.
The suspect then allegedly sold P500 to the PDEA poseur-buyer leading to his immediate arrest.
Authorities said that Maniwang was also caught in possession of two grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P30,000.
Maniwang is now detained at Camp Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City pending the filing of charges against him.
Last year, Maniwang was reportedly subjected to Oplan Tokhang.
He surrendered to barangay officials of Booy and vowed to end involvement in illegal drug activities.
Authorities however found out that the suspect continued to peddle drugs after his surrender. (wm)
