Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel has been transferred to the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) while he faces charges for the alleged kidnap-slay of his wife, Gisela.

According to Niño’s lawyer Gerardo Carrillo, his client arrived at Pier 3 of the Port of Cebu City at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Niño’s transfer was arranged after the Supreme Court en banc approved the request of Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre and the camp of Gisela to move the cases against the accused to Cebu.

The High Court ruled in favor of the petition to prevent the accused from influencing potential witnesses.

Niño was detained for about six months at the Talibon District Jail.

Gisela’s best friend Angela Leyson alleged that Niño and his cohorts held her and her son against their will inside a resort in Bien Unido.

The kidnapping incident allegedly started right before Gisela was killed and dumped in waters off Lapu-Lapu City.

Along with Niño, his cousin Riolito, driver Randel Lupas, Wilfredo Hoylar, Restituto Magoncia Jr., Allan delos Reyes Jr. and Lobo Boniel were charged with parricide.

A P200,000-rewarad has been raised by Gisela’s camp for information that would lead to the arrest of Lobo and delos Reyes who remained at large.
