A Southern Star bus and a Kia Pride car were severely damaged after colliding head on in Jagna town on Monday evening resulting in the death of one man and the injury of a baby and his nanny.

A seaman was killed while his 10-month-old son and house help were injured after colliding head on against a Southern Star bus in Jagna at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The fatality, identified as Bunny Inoc, a resident of Barangay Looc in Jagna, was declared dead in arrival after he was rushed to a hospital in Tagbilaran City.

Based on initial police investigation, the victim was driving his car, a Kia Pride, from Guindulman when the accident happened along a national road in Barangay Jarapan, Jagna.

Inoc was making a sharp turn when he smashed straight into the incoming bus driven by one Vicente Alas.

According to PO2 Leonardo Pinedo, passengers who saw the incident noted that Inoc was partly on the bus’s lane due to his vehicle’s speed when making the turn.

This lead to the head-on collision, Pinedo said.

Inoc was smashed between the steering when and his seat due to the impact causing severe injruies throughout his body.

He was rushed to a hospital together with his newborn son and the house help Venus Mauris who were at the backseat during the accident.

Both the baby and Mauris are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the Ceres bus driver remained in police custody. (Allen Doydora)
