Fire hits Tagbilaran school

Firefighters investigate an abandoned house in Barangay Mansasa which was gutted by a fire on Saturday morning.

The principal’s office of the Manga National High School in Tagbilaran City was severely damaged by a fire which erupted at dawn on Tuesday.

According to FO2 Dennis Calonio, arson investigator of the Tagbilaran City Fire Station, they are looking at an electrical short circuit as the cause of fire.

Authorities were alerted by a fireman who was near the area when the blaze erupted.

Fire investigators estimated the worth of the property damage at P60,000.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Earlier, an abandoned house also caught fire in Barangay Mansasa in Tagbilaran City.

The fire started at 11 a.m. on Saturday and was put out less than an hour after.

According to Calonia, the fire left around P80,000 in damages.

Investigators believe that person suffering from a mental illness set afire materials behind the house.

The blaze may have reached the abandoned house. (ad)
