A man was shot dead after attending the funeral of his neighbor in Barangay Dao in Tagbilaran City in the wee hours of Friday.
Authorities identified the victim as Ibrahim Demarundaw, 34, a resident of Sitio Lanao in Dao, Tagbilaran city.
In a report, police said that Demarundaw sustained five gunshot wounds across his body.
He was still rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way to the health facility.
The victim left the funeral at around 3 a.m. and was walking home when his neighbors heard several gunshots.
Upon checking, the residents saw Demarundaw sprawled on the ground and bloodied while two motorcycle-riding men were seen fleeing the area.
Police noted that the victim was monitored to have been involved in illegal drug activities.
However, investigators have yet to pinpoint the identity of the shooter and motive behind the killing. (WM)
