Two men including a man in the police’s drug watch list were killed by a motorcycle-riding gunman who rode in tandem with another suspect in Barangay Nabuad, Inabanga on Monday morning.
Police identified the fatalities as Mario Sanchez, 38, and Lope Helo, both residents of Barangay Cantuba, Buenavista.
According to Buenavista chief of police Chief Insp. Rolly Lauron, Sanchez was active in the illegal drug trade before he was gunned down.
Police were already set to conduct an anti-drug operation against Sanchez but the gunman got to him first, said Lauron.
Both Sanchez and Helo were riding a motorcycle when the two suspects caught up with them and the passenger shot at both victims based on a witness’ testimony.
Inabanga police chief Mercedarious Balabat III said that the victims were travelling from Buenavista and were already along the national road in Barangay Nabuad, Inabanga during the gun attack.
They both died on the spot with gunshots to their heads and various parts of their bodies.
According to Balabat, they are still continuing their investigation to identify the suspects and the motive behind the killing.
Police are also looking into Helo’s involvement with Sanchez. (A. Doydora)
