A 30-year-old woman allegedly yielded suspected shabu including a fist-sized white crystalline substance as she was about to visit her detained live-in partner, a drug suspect, at the Bohol District Jail (DBJ) in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday afternoon.
The alleged drug courier, Josienen Perfecio, a resident of Habitat Village in Barangay Tabalong, Dauis, was held by BDJ personnel after a jail guard found one sachet and a large pack of suspected shabu inside her shoulder bag.
Perfecio denied the allegation, saying that the confiscated items were alum (tawas).
According to BDJ designated searcher Cherry Mae Balani, Perfecio was about to visit one Lemuel Guades, a detainee who is facing a drug charge.
She reportedly wanted to leave her shoulder bag at one of the facility’s security posts but insisted that jail guards should not inspect it.
“While nag search ko, naa koy una nakita na bar, ingon siya tawas. Pero kadtong pag ukay-ukay na sa iyang bag, nakita na pud nako ang small na [packet],” said Balani.
For his part, JO2 Jonathan Tungol said that they grew suspicious when Perfecio refused to have her bag inspected which was part of the facility’s security measures.
“Ako siyang giingnan na kung magbilin kag bag, amoang SOP isearch ang bag. Agtong higayuna, di man siya mo sugot na isearch, so nagduda na ko unsa iyang rason ngano dili pa-search,” said Tungol. “Amo jud ng isearch kay basin og naay bomba o unsa ba diha nga makaunsa namo, kami ra ang alaot.“
According to Tungol, Perfecio appeared nervous when authorities found the packets of suspected shabu.
“Kulbaan siya unya wa siya kasabot unsa iyang isulti…di magkadimao iyang storya,” he said.
Perfecio is set to be turned over to the Tagbilaran City Police Station where she will be detained.
Meanwhile, the confiscated sachets of suspected drugs will be submitted to the police crime laboratory to verify if these are indeed illegal narcotics.
