Dauis PNP hunts down elderly man for stabbing neighbor

Operatives of the Dauis Police Station continued its hot pursuit operation against a man in his 60s who allegedly stabbed his neighbor in Barangay Totolan, Dauis on Friday afternoon.

According to PO1 Vincent Añana of the Dauis police, suspect Dave Cimafranca who remained at large has been known in the neighborhood to be violent when drunk.

Cimafranca who was intoxicated allegedly stabbed Judy Duhaylunsod, 44, without provocation.

“Base sa among imbistigasyon, kaning suspetsado may pagka-maldituhon g’yud ni siya basta maka-inom even sa iyahang pamilya na atong nahinabi,” said Añana.

Duhaylunsod was driving his motorcycle and was already near his house when he was accosted and stabbed by Cimafranca in the left part of his chest.

Investigators have yet to identify other motives behind the stabbing incident other than the suspect’s intoxication.

“Among gi-pangutana iyang asawa, wa g’yud silay ikatumbok na hinungdan ngano gi dunggab iyang bana kay wa man kuno silay panagbangi aning suspetsado,” added Añana.

Residents in the area told authorities that Cimafranca immediately fled the area after the incident.

The victim’s brother tried to go after Cimafranca but the suspect was still able to escape.

“Gi suwayan nig gukod sa igsoon pero wa nalang kuno siya kay gadala pa man ni [Cimafranca] og kutsilyo, wa man ilabay unya mi dretso sa ngitngit na bahin didto sa Totolan,” said Añana.

Duhaylunsod was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for medical attention.

He continued to be treated for his injury but Añana said that the victim remained conscious while at the hospital.
