A police officer was killed after the motorcycle he was driving slammed into the road’s railings and fell off into a rice field along a national road in Talibon.
SPO1 Ian Yuag of the Talibon Police Station identified the fatality as PO2 Alfie Auextero, 34, who was living in Talibon but was assigned in Trinidad.
According to Yuag, the vehicular crash took place in an accident prone area as Auxtero was on his way to work at 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Auxtero may have lost control of the vehicle along a sharp curve in the area, Yuag said.
The victim was likely travelling at high speed as he was thrown off the railings, Yuag added.
Auxtero’s helmet was also severely damaged due to strong impact.
He was still rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
According to Yuag, the road segment is an accident prone area as it is poorly lit and has a sharp curve. (A. Doydora)
