Six passengers landed in the hospital for various injuries after the bus they were on accidentally slammed into a waiting shed along a national highway in Garcia Hernandez on Monday morning.

According to PO2 Jonathan Bachinilla of the Garcia Hernandez Police Station, the injured passengers were taken to a hospital in Jagna and were treated for minor wounds.

The Southern Star bus went out-of-control and slid in Barangay West Canayaon at past 6 a.m., said Bachinilla based on the testimony of the vehicle’s driver, Rani Ho, a native of Candijay.

Ho told authorities that the road was wet at the time due to persistent rains.

There were 30 passengers on board the bus during the accident, said Bachinilla.

No other individuals were hurt other than the six who suffered minor cuts, but the bus’s front bumper and windshield were severely damaged.

Ho, meanwhile, was placed under police custody.

According to Bachanilla, the Southern Star Bus Transit, Inc. management has offered to pay for damages to the waiting shed and the hospital bills of those injured. (AD)
