Intelligence officers of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) seized shabu with an estimated street value of P236,000 from an alleged drug dealer, who had earlier been charged with illegal drug possession, in Tagbilaran City at dawn on Tuesday.
Operatives of the BPPO Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) allegedly confiscated the large stash of shabu weighing a total of 20 grams from Henan Mejares, a native of Getafe town, during a drug buy-bust operation along Belderol Street in Barangay Cogon.
Mejares allegedly sold shabu worth P500 to an undercover police officer leading to his immediate arrest.
According to Senior Inspector Romar Labasbas of the PIB, Mejares was arrested in 2015 for illegal drug possession.
He was released in May, 2018 after posting bail and was supposed to enter a plea bargaining agreement on Friday, Labasbas added.
However, his eligibility to enter a plea bargaining for his pending illegal drug possession case has been forfeited with his recent arrest.
Mejares will also be charged with sale and possession of illegal drugs.
He is now detained at the BPPO headquarters in Camp Francisco Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City. (W. Maestrado)
