A five-year-old boy and two men were killed while three others including two boys were injured following a head-on collision between two motorcycles along a national road in Inabanga on Sunday.
Police said that the two motorcycles accidentally slammed into each other along the national high way in Barangay Cambitoon at past 2 p.m.
There were no witnesses during the incident as it happened in a remote area, police added.
Authorities only chanced upon the victims, one Dimple Socorin, 18, and Randy Duavis, 21, on one motorcycle and Ronald De Eguraola, 35, and his three sons aged nine, seven and five on the other motorcycle.
According to SPO1 Edelberto Sentinaes, Eguraola’s five-year-old son was rushed to the Catigbian District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Eguraola and Socorin were taken to the Francisco Dagohoy Memorial Hospital in Inabanga but also succumbed to their injuries before reaching the facility.
Meanwhile, Eguraola’s other sons were rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital where they continued to be treated for severe injuries due to the accident.
Authorities however have yet to follow-up on Duavis’s condition but Sentinaes said that he was conscious when he was taken by an ambulance.
According to police, there were two pieces of helmets found in the area of the accident but they were not able to determine if the drivers or passengers were wearing them. (ad)
