A 56-year-old man was killed after he was accidentally rammed by a pickup truck allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy in Panglao on Sunday night.

The victim, identified as Eugenio Alboladora of Panglao town, died on the spot along the central road in Barangay Poblacion, said Panglao police investigator PO3 Armad Akil.

“Timingan mi-labay tong doctora diri sa Panglao, gi-declare na niya na dead didto mismo,” said Akil.

Alboladora was walking along the side of the road when he was hit by the Toyota Hilux which sped off from the scene of the accident, based on witnesses’ statements.

Police meanwhile caught up with the boy who drove the pickup truck at the public market in the same village a few minutes later.

“Pag pangutana namo na ‘ngano wa man ka mo-hunong’, nahadlok kuno siya mo hunong kay basin kuno kulatahon siya o unsa ba. Mi-diretso nalang siya sa iyang mama didto dapit sa merkado, didto na siya naabti sa among mga kauban,” said Akil.

The boy was then turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development pending the possible filing of a case against him.

“[I-coordinate] pa namo ni sa DSWD kay nangayo pa mi og certificate of discernment gikan sa DSWD aron ma-file namo ang kaso,” Akil said.

The boy’s parents has offered to extend financial assistance to the Alboladora family.

However, the Alboladoras have yet to issue a statement on their decision to whether or not pursue the case against the boy.
