A total of 13 people landed in the hospital following a collision between a van-for-hire and a motorcycle in Barangay Lourdes, Panglao on Wednesday afternoon.
The van which was carrying 12 people including the driver accidentally sideswiped a motorcycle as both vehicles were heading towards Tagbilaran City, said PO2 Edwin Magkawas of the Panglao Police Station.
The Honda Wave motorcycle driven by 18-year-old Jeyr Oclinaria crashed following the collision.
Meanwhile, Rene Maalam, 48, lost control of the vehicle causing it to eventually fall on its side. Authorities believed that the vehicle crashed also due to slippery roads amid heavy rains on Wednesday.
“Pareha na silang padung Tagbilaran, ‘nya mi try og overtake ang kaning van. Na-igo ang motor, tumba ang motor unya nag-lose control ning van parehas ni silang nangatumba,” said Magkawas.
All of the passengers and both drivers were taken to a hospital for treatment.

They reportedly only suffered minor injuries.
