A supporter of a political group landed in the hospital after he was shot by a still unidentified gunman in the wee hours of the Election Day on Monday.

Tibbs Bullecer, a reelectionist councilor in Loay, claimed that the victim, Lucas Wate, is a supporter of their group under mayoral candidate Atty. Lahar Ayuban of Padayon Bol-anon.

Bullecer alleged that their political opponent was behind the attack.

“Klaro kayo nga bisan kinsay mo storya didto sa area way laing nag bahas-bahas nga sakyanan, sakyanan g’yud sa mayor unya nakita pod sa maong sakyanan nga tua didto nakit-an tong nagpondok ang mga armado nga tawo,” said Bullecer.

“Gane ang maong sakyanan sa mayor ning kawas pa tong anak nga laki sa mayor sa usa sa mga barangay didto earlier that day nga padung pod ko duola unya hing gawas iyang armado nga bodyguard nga paingon pod mo-bunot sa armas, mao na nga positive kayo nga ilaha g’yud to nga trabaho,” he added.

Ayuban is running against May Lim-Imboy, mother of incumbent Mayor Rochelle Imboy-Abutazil who is running for vice mayor.

The Imboy camp has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.

According to Cpl. McMurphy Galapin of the Loay Police Station, Wate was shot near his residence in Barangay Tangcasan Norte by one of two bonnet-clad suspects.

Wate was  driving a motorcycle with passenger Michael Gaslang when a black Toyota Fortuner blocked their path at past 1 a.m.

Two men allegedly beat up Wate and Gaslang who incurred bruises all over his body before one of the suspects shot Wate in the back.

Wate was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City and was reportedly in stable condition.

The victims however were unable to identify the suspects and take note of the vehicle’s plate number.

“Ingon ang biktima wa kuno sila kaklaro kung kinsa tong mga tawhana kay aside sa ngitngit kuno to, mura’g nagtabon ni sila sa ilang mga nawng…base pud sa ilang gisulti, gi-pawngan og suga sa sakyanan na ilang gigamit,” said Galapin. (A. Doydora)
