Two fishermen, including a senior citizen, from Zamboanga del Norte who were lost at sea reached Loay town in Bohol on Sunday night.

The fishermen, Ian Reyes, 32, and Jaime Solatorio, 69, both from Roxas, Zamboanga del Norte, were battered by violent weather and rough seas as they were fishing in waters off the town on Saturday.

According to Solatorio, they were blown away towards an islet near Surigao while they were on board a small motorized banca.

The men left the island to go home as weather conditions improved but got lost and instead ended up in Loay, some 150 kilometers away from Roxas.

They reached Loay at 6 p.m. on Sunday and immediately sought help from the Loay Police Station.

Solatorio said that they were trying to catch large fish in deeper parts of the sea when they were hit by bad weather.

The duo has been doing it for a long time but it was the first time that they were blown away due to rough seas.

For his part, Cpl. Donald Curan of the Loay Police Station on Wednesday said that Reyes and Solatorio were already brought back to Roxas on board a larger fishing boat owned by their friend. (AD)
