A 75-year-old woman was killed after he was hit by a motorcycle along a national road in Loon town at past 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The fatality, Ernesta Cantones, of Barangay Song-on, Loon, was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City but was declared dead on arrival.
According to Staff Sgt. Ramon Butil of the Loon Police Station, Cantones suffered severe injuries to her head which may have hit the ground after she was hit by the vehicle.
Butil said Cantones was about to cross a national highway in Barangay Song-on when a motorcycle driven by one Jefferson Relampagos hit her.
Relampagos, a resident of said village, said that he was not able to notice the crossing Cantones.
He is set to be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
However, the victim’s family has yet to decide whether or not to arrange an amicable settlement with Relampagos.
Based on initial police investigation, Relampagos had no driver’s license while his while his motorcycle’s registration had expired.
Relampagos meanwhile only suffered several minor cuts as he crashed following the impact. (AD)
