Motorists regularly passing through Sitio Ubos, Causeway in Tagbilaran City expressed dismay over the continued traffic congestion in front of the Tagbilaran City Fish Port particularly during daytime.

Several motorists aired their complaints through station DYRD’s “Inyong Alagad” program as they called on city officials to address the issue which has been a bane to those headed for work and students alike.

Some of the callers reported that traffic in the area crawls to an unbearable pace due to private vehicles being parked at the side of the road.

For his part, City Traffic Management Office (CTMO) chief Tony Samante said that the road along the fish port should be widened to ease congestion.

He also suggested to amend the ordinance allowing vehicles to be parked at the side of the road mostly to cater to fish buyers making purchases at the fish port.

The traffic chief is planning to meet with the Tagbilaran City Council particularly its committee on transportation to put accross his proposal.

Samante also noted that more traffic enforcers are needed to direct traffic in the area.

However, due to the lack of CTMO field personnel, only one traffic enforcer has been assigned to man traffic in the causeway area. (Allen Doydora)
