A 33-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly caught in possession of a large amount of shabu at a police checkpoint in Dauis town on Thursday night.

Dauis police chief Captain Robert Lucernas said that Patrick Visarra, 33, of Barangay Taguihon, Baclayon, yielded 15 grams of shabu which were estimated to be worth P102,000 based on the value set by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

According to Lucernas, Visarra while driving his motorcycle attempted to make U-turn after seeing the police checkpoint but officers stationed near the suspect were able to accost him.

Police also found out that Visarra was driving without a license while his vehicle registration had expired.

Lucernas said that Visarra admitted that he was about to deliver the drug stash to a person who he did not identify in Dauis.

Visarra is now under the custody of the Dauis Police Station pending the filing of an illegal drug possession charge against him.

Lucernas noted that Visarra was previously arrested also for drug possession but was recently released after posting bail. (A. Doydora)
