A 54-year-old woman landed in the hospital and is now recuperating after she was allegedly hacked by her husband repeatedly with a bolo on Monday night.

The suspect identified as Apolonio Macarayan, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Pilar, allegedly hacked his wife Pacita inside their home in Barangay Poblacion, Pilar following a heated argument.

Apolonio, who remains at large, is set to be charged with frustrated parricide, said Corporal Sharvey Cresencio of the Pilar Police Station.

“Nasuko ning suspek kay ngano kono gihatagan sa iyang asawa og bugas ug itlog ilang anak sa pikas balay. Gibawi sa inahan ang bugas ug itlog, naa na diha sa ilaha, pero nasuko na pud ang amahan ngano kuno gibawi,” said Cresencio.

According to Cresencio, initial investigation indicated that Apolonio often picked a fight with his wife when he gets drunk. Their children, whenever he is intoxicated hides his bolo, but forgot to do so prior to the incident.

“Every time kuno mahubog ilang taguan to iyang sundang, pero adtong time-a wa matagui,” he said.

Apolonio immediately fled their house following the hacking incident while Pacita was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.

Pacita was already in stable condition but was still at the hospital where she was being treated for her injuries as of Wednesday.

Cresencio said that Pacita sustained hack wounds in her hand, leg and back.

Meanwhile, police were waiting for an arrest warrant to be issued against Apolonio, while a complaint was being prepared against him. (A. Doydora)
