A 60-year-old male vendor who sold fish onboard his motorcycle died after he was accidentally rammed by another motorcycle driven by a police officer along a national road in Balilihan town on Monday morning.
The fatality, identified as Lucio Cosmod of Barangay Loreto Cortes, succumbed to his injuries at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City at 6 p.m. on the same day of the accident, said Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Penaso of the Balilihan Police Station.
Meanwhile, Senior Master Sgt. Edwin Silagan of the Catigbian Police Station who was driving the other motorcycle was also taken to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries.
According to Penaso, Cosmod who sold fish roadside crossed from one lane to the other in Barangay Del Carmen Weste as he was tending to his customers when he was hit by Silagan who was driving from Tagbilaran City to Catigbian to report for work.
“Iya untang likayan pero mura’g wa na jud mada maong nabanggan jud niya,” said Penaso.
The victim’s family and Silagan have reached an initial agreement, but Penaso said that this has yet to be finalized.
Penaso said that the Cosmod family has yet to appear before the Balilihan Police Station to confirm whether or not they will be filing a case against Silagan. (A. Doydora)
