Two policemen assigned at the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) headquarters in Camp Francisco Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City have tested positive for COVID-19, a police official said on Thursday.

According to Lt. Myra Sajulga, team leader of the BPPO’s Provincial Health Service Team, the two cops with ranks of staff sergeant and major were confirmed to have been infected with the virus based on test results released by the province’s containerized PCR laboratory.

The major recently attended a conference in Cebu and has been in quarantine since his arrival.

Meanwhile, the non-commissioned officer was bound for Cebu and was tested prior to his departure.

Sajulga said that both men remained in quarantine and were asymptomatic.

The police official clarified that these were not the first cases of COVID-19 infection among cops in the province.

“Daghan na kaso sa Bohol PNP na recorded namo kadto pong sa Sierra Bullones, na igo og local transmission hasta sa Talibon. More or less naa sa six cases,” she said.

Tracing of those in recent contact with both police officers has been completed and necessary precautions have been imposed.

“Once na mag-swab mi amo g’yud ng e-quarantine, so menus nana sila og exposure,” said Sajulga.

Camp Dagohoy meanwhile continued to operate under normal conditions with both COVID-stricken cops and their close contacts already in isolation. (R. Tutas)
