Man charged for raping granddaughter, 16, in Getafe

A 57-year-old man who has been detained for violating health protocols was charged for allegedly raping his granddaughter.

A warrant of arrest was issued against Gregorio S. Socajel on February 3, 2020 for two counts of rape while he was still detained for not wearing his facemask in public, said Cpl. Mary Cagata of the Getafe Police Station’s WCPD (Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk).

Socajel, a resident of Barangay Salog, was accused of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter on two occasions on November 29, 2019 and May 16, 2020.

According to to Cagata, Socajel had chances to rape the girl when he brought her to cut weeds in a secluded area.

“Kuhaon siya sa iyang lolo, dad-on siya mananggot, didto siya sa kasagbutan hilabtan kay naa may payag didto,” said Cagata.

The victim did not report the incident or tell her parents about the it out of fear.

Cagata said police only learned of the alleged rape when a relative of the victim heard her and Socajel talk about the incident.

 “Ni-uban siya og trabahante didto kay nahadlok siya na ma-rape og balik. Gipangita siya, unya pagkakuha niya gikasab-an siya sa iyang lolo ngano ga kuyog-kuyog og laki mao to didto na mention niya na ‘saba diha Lo ikaw man gani nakauna nako’ mao to naay nakadungog na maoy ni-report,” he said.

The WCPD then talked to the victim who later told Cagata about the incidents.

Cagata said the victim was subjected to medical and psychological examinations.
