Halloween Walk1 2015Parents dressed their kids up for the Neighborhood Halloween Walk early on Friday morning around the neighbors of Hilltop Children’s Playhouse in the corner of Hontanosas Ext. and M. Parras St. here in Tagbilaran City.   The Walk started at 8:30 in the morning and was done in a couple of hours as the kids and their parents, and a few siblings who came along, walked and stopped at host families along Hontanosas Ext., Mariano Parras St, Miguel Parras St., Carlos P. Garcia Ave. East.

The children dressed in Halloween costumes accompanied by their parents, who were likewise dressed for the occasion, were so excited to get candies and other goodies which our hosts prepared for them and who dropped them into their little baskets.  At the end of the walk, the kids never showed any signs of fatigue.  They enjoyed the whole experience and were overwhelmed by the new and different images and sights from  everybody around them.

The highlight of the day’s activity was the awarding of prizes for the ones with the best costumes.  There were two prizes given for the girls, another two for the boys and two for parents.  Awardees included, for the girls:  Avrille Mission and Jade Sanchez both of the Bumblebees;  for the boys:  JD Uy of Kindergarten 2 and Jackomo Hannebutt of Kindergarten 1.  The parents who came in with the winning costumes were:  Ave Sanchez and Marc Hannebutt.  A special prize was given to the one who came as a zombie and who the kids call “Lolo”, Boyong Castano who is Hilltop’s Crossing Guard.

Hilltop is grateful for the generosity of our neighbors:  the Romans, the Fortichs; the family of Dr. Pura S. Inting, the Magdozas, the Olarios, the Magantes, the Cheongs, the Dohigs, Cooperative Bank of Bohol, the Pos of Saya’s Restaurant, the Jipuses and relatives.  Year after year, Hilltop has relied on the support of our neighbors and we feel so blessed with neighbors like them.

The Halloween Neighborhood Walk this year was another enjoyable and successful one.  Once again, the children did not mind so much the heat which was not that bad Friday morning.  We are starting to look forward to the next Halloween.  But, first, there is Christmas next month to prepare for.

Thank you for your participation, little ones.  You were awesome.  Thank you for the effort coming from our efficient teachers starting with the principal, Ms. Leonila Rara; Kindergarten I Teachers, Joy Garcia, Fatima I. Lasula; Kindergarten II Teachers, Jendra Claire Parmisano and Haide Quiachon Clemen;  Nursery Teachers, Laarni S. Paredes and Jane Contreras and cooperative parents led by the president of their Parents, Teachers and Staff Association, Ms. Tween Felisilda,  who always go out of the way to be in solidarity with the school.   The success of this year’s Hilltop Neighborhood Halloween Walk would not have happened without you.

Hilltop Children’s Playhouse, Inc. is a preschool that accepts children starting at 2years old for the toddlers’ program until 6 years old when they are old enough for Kindergarten 2.  The school believes in developing the whole child and operates on the philosophy of learning through play.  Inquiries are welcome and are accommodated by the school’s director, Ms. Marietta L.
