A total of 17 newbie Bohol mayors will join the basic orientation training program for newly elected governors and mayors of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Towns with new mayors include Alburquerque, Anda, Baclayon, Batuan, Bien Unido, Calape, Cortes, Guindulman, Loay, Loon, Mabini, Maribojoc, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, San Miguel, Sevilla, Tubigon, and Ubay.
According to the DILG, a total of 559 newly elected governors and municipal mayors across the country will take part in the program.
The basic orientation program is part of the department’s Newly-elected Officials (NEO) initiative and is conducted through its training arm Local Government Academy which was established to train newbie officials in the entire country.
Topics during the training include governance and decentralization; Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities of elected officials; strategic management; leadership; climate change and disaster management; local economic development; crisis management; and peace and order.
The said training program is being conducted this month and will continue until the end of July, this year.(with reports from Allen Doydora)
