BLOODY END. Rico Hernani (left) and Cloyde Quijada (right), both drug suspects in Panglao, were separately killed in a span of two weeks after shootouts against the police.

It does not end well, Panglao police reminds the remaining drug personalities in the town.

After the spate of drug suspect deaths across the province, officers from the Panglao Police Station are urging the remaining  drug peddlers in the municipality to take a non-violent route in ending their criminal activities and surrender to authorities instead.

In Panglao alone, two top drug suspects have been killed in shootouts with police in less than two weeks, and these incidences were enough to prompt five more drug personalities in the town to promise to give themselves up to authorities tomorrow, June 30, 2016.

But there are many more of their kind in the town and the police are urging them to turn themselves in.

According to PO2 Victor Tagsa, almost every barangay in Panglao is affected by illegal drug activities.

Having five drug suspects turn themselves in is a good start, Tagsa said, but admitted this would barely make a dent in the total number of drug personalities in the town.

The local police are also hoping that when President-elect Rodrigo Duterte officially becomes the head of state tomorrow, more criminals involved in the illegal trade would yield to authorities.

The town of Panglao is among the fast-developing municipalities in Bohol as it is one of the province’s top tourist destinations but its progress is also among the causes of the rising illegal drug activities in the area.

Reports reaching the Panglao Police Station indicate that foreigners have also started to conduct drug operations in the town.

Authorities have started to investigate the allegation. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
