At least 100 drug personalities in Jagna turned themselves in at the town’s police station following dozens of self-confessed drug users and pushers who have already yielded to authorities in other municipalities.

Police Officer 3 Christopher Aseron told DYRD Balita that more accurate figures on the sex of the drug personalities and on whether they are pushers or users have yet to be confirmed as several more suspects continued to surrender at the police station.

The said drug personalities turned themselves in during the last two days and most of them are from the barangays of Canjulao, Pangdan, and Can Upao, Aseron said.

Despite the throngs that had surrendered, the Jagna police continues to urge the remaining drug suspects in the town to also surrender.

Policemen have already started to conduct Oplan Tokhang (tok-tok hangyo or knock and persuade) in barangays Pangdan and Canjulao in their bid to curb illegal drug activities in the town without the use of force.

However, some drug personalities already turned themselves in even before Oplan Tokhang was set in motion in the said villages, Aseron said.

Meanwhile, more people involved in drug activities in Alicia have surrendered to town authorities. From the initial four, the total number drug personalities who yielded to the town’s police rose to 16 on Saturday, July 2, 2016.

But PO3 Ferdinand Tutor, investigator at the Alicia Police Station, said that the 16 are all users as drug pushers in the town have not surrendered.

Members of the Alicia police are optimistic that more drug suspects will turn themselves in as they continue conducting Oplan Tokhang in various barangays of the town.

In Panglao, 94 drug personalities turned themselves in and vowed to stop their involvement in drug activities on Friday, July, 1, 2016 just a few hours after President Rodrigo Duterte was sworn into office. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
