Crime incidence significantly dropped in severely drug-affected Barangay Cogon since the implementation of Oplan Tokhang in Tagbilaran City according to a city official.
The operation has effectively curbed criminality in the barangay as some of the big-time drug dealers in the area have either surrendered or fled the city, according to Nicanor Besas, Cogon barangay captain and Association of Barangay Councils president.
However, Besas noted that there are still drug personalities throughout the city who have ignored the government’s call for them to yield.
In the entire city, the barangay of Cogon is among areas with the highest incidences of drug activities and other crimes such as burglary and robbery.
Besas, who led the campaign against drugs in city barangays, warned those who refused to yield on the government’s next actions as the opportunity for suspects to surrender and officially vow to mend their ways expired Friday night, July 8, 2o16.
The ABC president also acknowledged his fellow barangay captains who conducted Oplan Tokhang with city policemen since last week.
Besas said that almost all barangays in the city  cooperated in carrying out the anti-illegal drugs campaign. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
