The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) took over the probe of the death of Fr. Marcelino Biliran after the agency ruled out initial findings declaring the incident a suicide, Loboc police said.
According to Atty.Arcelito Albao, NBI executive officer, the agency will conduct a “full-dress†investigation on the killing of Biliran.
Evidence gathered by the local police and other information on the case are now with the NBI, said PO2 Robin Molina, Loboc police investigator.
On the day of BIliran’s burial July 6, 2016, the results of the autopsy conducted by the NBI through Dr. Rene Cam were released, and indicated that the priest did not commit suicide as he was murdered.
Various speculations have emerged after the NBI report was released with some considering theft as the reason behind Biliran’s killing.
However, authorities have not released an official statement confirming or debunking public speculations.
Some Boholanos continue to clamor for the thorough investigation of the incident which they voiced out through calls aired on station DYRD.
Meanwhile, Biliran’s family has also expressed their call for justice over the Loboc priest’s death. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
