It was a busy day for cops in Panglao as the town’s police force rounded up four suspected pushers in separate buy-bust operations on Wednesday.
Police collared 38-year-old Kenneth Sarahina, who is included in Panglao’s drug watch list, at noontime in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tawala of the said town.
The suspect almost escaped police arrest but was cornered inside a newly built house by pursuing officers.
Operatives immediately attempted to arrest Sarahina after he took P500 bust money from a police poseur-buyer in exchange for one pack of suspected shabu. Police recovered 3 medium-sized packs or “bulto†of suspected shabu when frisking the alleged pusher.
According to Senior Insp. Jomar Pomarejos, Panglao police chief, Sarahina was previously subjected to Oplan Tokhang but did not yield to authorities and reportedly continued to engage in illegal drug activities.
In Barangay Danao, police apprehended three drug suspects including 33-year-old Ronnie Mijares, a native of Pasil, Cebu City currently living in Brgy. Poblacion, in another buy-bust operation.
The authorities arrested Ronnie Mijares and companions Jumar Regado and Mark Mijares who handed over to an undercover police suspected shabu worth P500 during the buy-bust.
Pomajeros said that Ronnie Mijares had previously been arrested for selling illegal drugs while the two other suspects recently surrendered to Panglao authorities for involvement in drugs.
The three suspects yielded 7 packets and 1 pack of suspected shabu while operatives also recovered drug paraphernalia from them.
All four alleged pushers are detained at the Panglao Police Station as authorities prepare to file charges against Ronnie Mijares and Sarahina for violating Section 5 and Section 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 and Mark Mijares and Regado for violating Section 11 of Republic Act 9165.
