The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) turned over to Antequera barangays P11.4 million earmarked for sub-projects under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS).
The transfer of funds was formalized on Wednesday through a municipal-wide inauguration and turn over ceremony in the said town.
The Kalahi-CIDSS sub-projects include care centers, water systems through a reservoir, access to roads, multi-purpose buildings and 20-meter hanging bridges located in Barangay Tabuan.
A total of 21 villages in Antequera will benefit from the said projects.
According to Ryan Caballero, project management officer of Kalahi-CIDDS, another P5.7 million fund is being prepared for the second phase of the initiative.
Caballero said that the amount will be allocated to barangays in need of more financial assistance.
The Kalahi CIDSS is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the national government which are being implemented by the DSWD. (Allen Doydora)
