A total of 193 personnel and officials of the barangay and municipal government of Dauis tested negative for drug use.

According to Dauis Mayor Miriam Sumaylo, the drug testing, which was the second round for the local government unit (LGU) of the town, was conducted on Monday.

Sumaylo said that the initiative was implemented as an answer to the call of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to ensure drug-free LGUs.

The provincial government through the SP passed a resolution urging Bohol officials and government personnel to submit themselves to drug testing in accordance with the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

Employees and officials in the Dauis LGU were also tested for drug use last July 19.

Previously, the League of Municipalities (LMP) in Bohol is planning to have all mayors in the province undergo drug testing. So far, only those in Dauis, Panglao,Balilihan and Tagbilaran City have voluntarily subjected themselves to a drug test. (Rey Tutas)
