Brgy. captain’s wife, 7 others nabbed for ‘swertres’

Joint operatives of the police and Army arrested on Thursday night the wife of the village chief of Brgy. San Pascual, Ubay and seven others for involvement in illegal swertres.

The authorities collared alleged illegal swertres coordinator Sarah Alacida, the wife of Brgy. Captain Renato Alacida, at 8:15 p.m. at the couple’s compound in said village.

The composite team led by P/Senior Insp. Eraño Regidor of the Provincial Intelligence Branch also arrested Jhon-Jhon Polinar, Constancio Cutor, Boy Bosangilan, Alberto Gumanoy, Jonas Abueva, Lemes Aunzo and Roberto Baguio, all suspected illegal swertres ushers and residents of Brgy. San Pascual.

Police said that the suspects were caught sorting swertres paraphernalia including five calculators, seven cellphones, tally sheets and P250 believed to be proceeds from the illegal activity.

The suspects who are all married and of legal age were released on Friday night after posting bail for their temporary liberty.

The joint operation was conducted by operatives of the PIB, Ubay police led by Senior Insp. Desiree Lavisto and Regional Public Safety Battalion-7 with the support of personnel of the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion. (Rey Tutas)
