The Clarin port can be used as alternate docking area for boats to decongest the pier in Tubigon, said Clarin Mayor Allen Ray Piezas.
Piezas, president of the League of Municipalities Bohol Chapter, suggested opening a Clarin route for big ships and fast crafts operating in Tubigon.
The proposal was delivered by the mayor during the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting last week noting that the growing number of vessels in Tubigon has started to congest the town’s pier.
According to Piezas, the plan would allow large vessels carrying cargo trucks to dock in the Clarin port, significantly decongesting the Tubigon port and the town’s central area.
For his part, Gov. Edgar Chatto who led the PDC meeting expressed support for the proposal while National Economic Development Authority 7 chief Efren Carreon has also considered the plan.
Piezas said that Carreon had already inspected the Clarin port to check the plan’s viability.
The mayor had previously noted that using the Clarin port would cut land travel time for fastcraft passengers going to and from neighboring towns such as Inabanga, Getafe, Sagbayan and Danao. (Allen Doydora)
