The local government unit (LGU) of Batuan is planning to build an adventure park in the agricultural municipality in a bid to draw more local and foreign tourists to Bohol.
According to Batuan Mayor Antonino Jumawid, a P2-million fund has been allocated for the establishment dubbed Makapiko Adventure Park which will be built in Brgy. Rizal.
However, Jumawid told DYRD Balita that the project is in need of a bigger amount for the construction prompting the mayor to appeal to various government offices for financial support.
Jumawid said that the Batuan LGU has asked the provincial government and various government agencies for a bigger allocation to augment the budget.
The Batuan LGU is eyeing an area near the Makapiko Bridge along the nearly completed Balilihan-Batuan National Road, which is among tourism highways in the province, as location of the adventure park.
Officials of Batuan are moving to promote the town as an agricultural destination and make it a part of the country’s agri-tourism map, said Jumawid.
In the 5th class municipality’s total land area of 7,908 ha, 63 percent or 4.952 ha is used for agricultural purposes. (Rey Tutas)
