A man believed to be mentally ill who was allegedly about to kill a live-in couple was shot dead by one of his targets in Barangay Cabudburan, Calape at past 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police identified the fatality as Rollyson “Eson†Rollon and the suspect as Ruel Cuamayag Tata, 45, both residents of said village.
According to PO3 Edwin Autida of the Calape Police Station, Rollon threatened to kill Tata and his pregnant live-in partner if they did not vacate the house they were staying in.
At 7 p.m on the same day, Rollon went back wielding a machete and a knife and attempted to attack Tata’s live-in partner first who is eight months pregnant.
Tata was able to stop Rollon but the shooting victim then tried to hack him with the machete.
This prompted Tata to shoot Rollon causing his instantaneous death.
According to Autido, Rollon was feared in the neighborhood for terrorizing residents in the area.
Based on police investigation, Rollon heavily used illegal drugs which caused his mental illness.
Meanwhile, Tata is expected to be released from jail as Rollon’s family did not express intent to file charges against him. (Allen Doydora)
