The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has started preparations as the city port is set to be the gateway for some of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) delegates who will be attending meetings in Bohol in April.

According to PPA-Tagbilaran port manager James Gantalao, preparations are mainly focused on maintaining order during the event, particularly as the delegates would be arriving during the summer months wherein tourist influx is at a high rate.

The PPA is also intending to beef up security in the port area when the delegates arrive, said Gantalo.

The port official noted that they will be using the multipurpose hall of the port’s new administration building as terminal for the delegates.

However, the PPA is still planning measures to prevent congestion at the port’s parking area, as it is expected to be filled with vehicles of tourists, ASEAN delegates and other passengers.

Last week, the ASEAN National Organizing Committee inspected the Tagbilaran City port as part of preparations for the meetings which will be held in various areas in the country throughout the year. (Rey Tutas)
