A man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving collided head on against another vehicle in Maribojoc at past 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Barangay Punta Cruz, Maribojoc, police said.
PO3 Eugene Morgia of the Maribojoc Police Station identified the fatality as Gilbert Tagalog, 28, of Loon town.
According to Morgia, the opposing driver, Nilo Samonte who was also driving a motorcycle, rammed Tagalog as the former attempted to overtake an owner-type jeep.
Samonte, while driving towards Loon, reportedly did not notice Tagalog who was traversing the opposite lane towards Tagbilaran City.
After the collision, Tagalog was thrown away to the opposite lane where the owner-type jeep accidentally ran over him.
Tagalog was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival, while Samonte suffered a broken leg.
According to Morgia, charges will likely be filed against Samonte who is still being treated at a hospital as of this posting.
Meanwhile, Bonifacio Estioca, the jeep driver, was released by authorities but his vehicle remained in police custody. (Allen Doydora)
