A man was found dead on Wednesday morning in an apparent suicide inside his home in Pilar.
Police Officer 3 Francisco Amila of the Pilar police identified the fatality as Delmar Ibañez, a 35-year-old married resident of Barangay Estaca, Pilar.
According to Amila, Ibañez was found by his wife, Josefa, as he was hanging from the ceiling with a rope tied to his neck.
Josefa then shouted for help. This prompted her cousins who were nearby to respond and help her take down Delmar.
Amila said that Josefa and her cousins still rushed Delmar to a barangay health center where personnel applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
However, Delmar was later declared dead.
According to Amila, Delmar’s family believed he took his own life due to stress from financial problems.
It was also not the first time that Delmar tried to take his own life.
He earlier slit his wrist but was immediately given medical attention and was saved, Amila said. (A. Doydora)
