A former barangay captain was arrested in Lila for allegedly selling illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation on Sunday evening.
Police identified the suspect as Emiliano Gamorot, 52, a resident and former village chief of Barangay Nagsulay, Lila.
In a report, authorities said that Gamorot was caught red-handed selling shabu worth P500 to a police poseur-buyer.
Gamorot was allegedly spotted selling illegal drugs outside the town’s gymnasium in Barangay Poblacion where festivities were being held for the municipality’s fiesta, prompting police to set up the operation.
Operatives then found seven small sachets of shabu in Gamorot’s possession after his arrest.
Gamorot will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (wm)
