An employee of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office allegedly lost jewelry and cash worth P350,000 to burglars who broke into her home in Tagbilaran City.
The victim, identified as local treasury operations assistant Angelina Penales, 64, told authorities that she had just arrived at her home from her office on Tuesday afternoon when she discovered that her house in Barangay Mansasa was ransacked.
When Penales checked, she noticed that jewelry and cash hidden inside her room were already missing.
The burglars went inside the house by removing jalousie blades, police said based on their initial investigation.
Investigators found an adjustable wrench and a screw driver at the scene which were likely used to remove the blades.
According to the Tagbilaran City Police Station, it has tasked its theft and robbery section and intelligence section to conduct investigations on the case. (wm)
