A casual employee of the local government unit of Tubigon was shot dead in broad daylight by motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem.

Tubigon police chief Sr. Insp. Jodel Torregosa identified the fatality as Jun Peter Bernaldez, a resident of Barangay Centro Cahayag.

Bernaldez died on the spot after he was shot in the head twice and multiple times in the body while standing outside a variety store along a national highway in Barangay Cahayag at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Torregosa, the gunman alighted from a motorcycle and suddenly approached Bernaldez, unloading several gunshots.

The assailant then fled on board an XRM motorcycle which was driven by another suspect.

Torregosa said they found eight spent shells fired from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Police investigators meanwhile continued to face a blank wall as to the motive and identities of the suspects behind the killing. (A. Doydora)
