A 56-year-old man was beaten to death by his drinking companion in Valencia town on Wednesday, police said.
The fatality, identified as Hesus Amate, a resident of Barangay Maubo, Valencia died on the spot, said PO3 Roy Lofranco, Valencia Police Station investigator.
Amate was allegedly beaten to death by one Armando Cahadas, 41, as the two figured in a brawl near a variety store where they had a drinking spree.
According to Lofranco, witnesses suddenly saw both men fight for possession of a bolo owned by Amate.
The bloodied Amate then lost consciousness as he was overpowered by Cahadas who continued to punch until the former stopped moving.
Cahadas immediately surrendered to barangay officials in the area while Amate was declared dead on the spot by a physician.
Lofranco said that Cahadas remained under police custody pending the filing of a homicide charge against him. (Allen Doydora)
