After four years in hiding, one of the 10 most wanted persons in Central Visayas who has been charged with qualified rape was arrested by police in Tagbilaran City.

Suspect Alex Amores, a 46-year-old Dimiao native, who was apprehended on Wednesday last week was turned over to the Negros Oriental police on Tuesday, said Dimiao police chief Captain Romar Labasbas.

According to Labasbas, Amores has been alleged of raping his 23-year-old former girlfriend who is suffering from mental illness in San Jose Negros Oriental in 2015.

The victim’s father filed the rape complaint against the suspect, Labasbas said.

Judge Winston Villegas, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 43 in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental issued the alias warrant of arrest which was used to apprehend Amores.

According to Labasbas, the victim’s father told authorities in Negros Oriental that the suspect is a native of Dimiao. The Negros Oriental police in turn notified the Dimiao Police Station through Labasbas.

Police in Dimiao later traced Amores to Tagbilaran City where he has been working as a tricycle driver.

Joint operatives of the Tagbilaran and Dimiao Police Stations then located and arrested Amores in Barangay Dampas on Wednesday last week.

Amores denied the allegations against him. (W. Maestrado)
