Man survives gun attack by mother’s live-in partner in Dauis

A 21-year-old man survived a gun attack which was allegedly carried out by his mother’s live-in partner and resulted from a heated argument.

The victim, identified as David Yagong, 21, of Barangay Riverside in Songculan, Dauis was shot by one Julius Delator, 47, of Tagbilaran City at past 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Delator was arrested shortly after the incident and has been charged with frustrated homicide.

According to Staff Sgt. Roberto Dapat, Jr., both men figured in a heated argument which resulted in the shooting incident at the Yagong residence.

Yagong’s mother tried to break up the fight but Delator allegedly shot and hit him in his right leg using a still unidentified caliber pistol.

Dapat said that Delator who was temporarily living at the Yagong residence immediately fled the area.

Yagong meanwhile was rushed to a hospital. He remained in stable condition.

According to Dapat, they were informed by the Valencia police that Dapat surrendered at their station at past 4 p.m. on the same day.

Police from Dauis immediately responded and took Delator into their custody.

Delator however was no longer in possession of the pistol used to shoot the victim as he said that he threw it away. (A. Doydora)
